Two Canadian-built, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles full-size sedans were Canada's two best-selling full-size volume brand sedans in 2016.
Canadian sales of the top-selling Dodge Charger and second-ranked Chrysler 300 declined 17% in 2016, a far faster rate of decline than the segment at large. (Their competitors were down only 7%.) But with all but one challenger falling to some degree, as well, the FCA twins conquered the category.Nissan's Maxima was clearly the exception to the rule in 2016. Sales jumped 35% to 2297 units, fifth among volume brand large sedans, but the highest Maxima output since 2006.
Former stalwarts, the Chevrolet Impala and Ford Taurus, saw their sales fall 14% and 3%, respectively. Impala volume has declined in ten consecutive years.

As Buick readies the new LaCrosse we would be included to expect Canadian sales improvements.
Yet given the degree to which consumers are veering away from this type of vehicle – LaCrosse sales, for instance, have fallen in eight of the last 11 years – a meaningful improvement may not be in the big Buick's near future.

More affordable midsize cars are exceedingly spacious these days.
And customers that desire premium cars want premium-badged cars. A Ford Taurus SEL is not a Lexus ES.
