| After almost three years on the road, these two continue to beat sales records |
Record Sales
It's party time in the daddy of EV markets, the USA accounts for over half of plug-in car sales in the world and this month it has hit a new record, the new sales highmark now stands at 11.078 units, an improvement of 29% (!) over the previous record set back in December 2012, enabling the EV Share to climb to 0,55%.
Instead of a unusual event from a specific model, this was a month where almost everybody contributed, with six models reaching personal best scores:
Volt August Sales - 3.351* (Previous record: 2.961 in October '12);
Leaf August Sales - 2.420 (Previous record: 2.236 March '13);
Fusion Energi August Sales - 600 (Previous record: 416 May '13);
RAV4 EV August Sales - 231 (Previous record: 133 March '13);
Fortwo ED August Sales - 182 (Previous record: 60 May '13);
500e August Sales - 160 (Previous record: 150 July '13).

And another two achieved year best scores:
Prius Plug-In August Sales - 1.791 (Sales record: 1.889 October '12);
C-Max Energi August Sales - 621 (Sales record: 1.259 November '12).
So, time to bring the champagne and commemorate the event, but some have more reasons to celebrate than others, because GM's poster child, the Chevy Volt, recovered the #1, both in the YTD and in the Monthly ranking, and the Smart Fortwo ED (#11) and Fiat 500e (#12) climbed one position in exchange of the Honda Accord Plug-In, which dropped to #13.
