Canadian sales of commercial vans jumped 8% despite the overall market's downturn in October 2016, no thanks to small cargo vans.
Canada Vehicle Sales Rankings By Model - October 2016 YTD
Led by the Ford Transit Connect, small commercial van volume slid 6% and is up just 3% in 2016 despite the addition of a new nameplate. The Mercedes-Benz Metris, reviewed by GCBC earlier this year, earned 20% market share in the sub-sector in October.
Full-size commercial vans continue to be the category's major draw.The Ford Transit, however, posted a modest 2% downturn in October. The Chevrolet Express and GMC Savana combined for 1010 sales, topping the Ford full-sizers by 67 units.
Year-to-date, 42% of the commercial vans sold in Canada have been Fords. General Motors owns 28% of the category, Mercedes-Benz 14%, Ram 10%, and Nissan 6%.
