Fresh Start Edition
The new government in Canada seems to have spiked buyers interest in plug-ins, with sales finally increasing significantly regarding last year, with a 71% increase over October 2014, with the EV Share now up to 0,33%, a positive departure over the 0,27% of last year.
Another (Possibly stronger) reason for this uptick in sales was the arrival of the Second Generation of Canada's favorite plug-in: The Chevrolet Volt, pushing the nameplate sales to 203 units, it's best result in 18 months. Will we see the Volt beating its all-time record in Canada (1.521 units in 2014) this year? I wouldn't bet against it.
Looking at the rest of the competition, the Model S continues to lead comfortably, while the Nissan Leaf remains a consistent 100-something performer, waiting for the 30KWh version to arrive in decent numbers to (hopefully) give the Volt a fight for #2.
Below the podium, the Fourth Spot is being hardly fought between the Smart Fortwo ED and the BMW i3, currently they are tied with 296 units and with the Kia Soul EV recently increasing the sales pace, the Korean might even join the race in the latest days of the year.
We have a new addition to the ranking, with the Porsche Cayenne Plug-In opening the globally burgeoning luxury SUV segment in #8.

Tesla vs The Others (Canada Edition)
As Elon Musk pointed out, the real competition of Tesla aren't other EV's, but the ICE best selling models, so let's look how the Model S stands in Canada (1):Pl | Model | Oct. |

Looking at the October numbers, Tesla is closer to the leadership, with Mercedes needing the CLS and E-Class to be together in order to distance itself from the Model S, so the leadership for the Californian is something that could reach in the near future.
(1) - Unlike in markets across the pond, the full-size car market in Canada is much more diversified, with Chevy Impalas, Malibus, Chrysler 300, Dodge Chargers, etc, all theoretical adversaries to the Model S, but Tesla's direct competition isn't there, so the Model S is only compared with cars with similar price and concept.
