Car2Go Record Edition
A record 542 units were registered last month, with sales surging 68% YoY and the EV Share rising to 0,26%, finally above last year result and also a record high. YTD sales are also at record levels, with sales above the 2.000 units.
This unexpected result is mostly due to a fleet deal, thanks to the delivery of the first 199 units of the expected 500 Smart Fortwo ED of the Car2Go car-sharing company in Madrid, at the same time, the tiny two seater has beaten a three year old record of another two seater, the Renault Twizy, allowing a 10 position jump to #3, now if all 500 are delivered this year, we will still see the Fortwo ED as #1 in Spain.
Despite this brilliant result, the 199 units of the Fortwo ED only placed the electric two seater in #99 of the generic spanish auto market, so a lot still has to be done here...
The other significant change was the BMW i3 dropping two positions to #5, all while the top two became closer than ever, with the Nissan Leaf recovering two units and now only three units behind the surprise leader Outlander PHEV.
A mention to Renault, two year best for their models, with the Twizy registering 32 units and the Zoe selling 61 units.
A new model has landed last month, the Mercedes C350e registered its first unit, while the Vigo-made Citroen Berlingo EV sold its first two units of the year.
On the manufacturers ranking, Renault (23%) increased slightly its leadership over Nissan (22%). Third is Mitsubishi (14%) and BMW (11%), Fourth.
