Qin inside the Top 100 Edition

Another month above the 10.000 units for the Chinese EV market, with the EV Share rising for the first time above the 0,5% to 0,52%, and plug-ins are starting to make themselves noticed...

In a fast changing Chinese Auto Market, with sales down 7%, SUV's surging while the rest is slowing down, and important changes in the general ranking, plug-ins, and BYD PHEV's in particular, are thriving, the Qin made its 18th consecutive record (4.030 units), joining for the first time the global Top 100 ranking, at #95, while being also the third best selling BYD last month, only behind the F3 sedan and the S7 SUV.    

The next rising star in the BYD stable?

But it's not all, the Tang plug-in SUV registered its second sales month, with registrations rising to 723 sales (The Qin registered 673 in its second month), considering that BYD's new SUV is in the intersection between two rising trends in China (Plug-ins and SUV's), and given enough batteries to avoid production constraints, it won't be surprising to see it reach 2.000 units in December, with the Qin hovering at 5.000 units/month.

Looking at the rest of the competition, it was a rather weak month, with no models registering record numbers and the Zotye E20 plunging to just 152 units, being the fourth consecutive month of depressing sales (What's going on here?), while its larger brother, the Cloud (734 units), replaced it in the last place in the podium.

Will the new face be enough to win over the Golf GTE?

Nissan Leaf Leading BEV's, Close Race in the PHEV Department

July stayed below the 200-something units we have been used to in the Italian EV Market, although EV Share continues stable at 0,16%.

The Nissan Leaf increased the YTD leadership, thanks to another off month of the Renault Zoe (Only seven units sold), with the french supermini now being chased by its Twizy relative (#3 with 14% share, Italy is its most successful market).

In other news, the Golf GTE is only one unit ahead the Outlander PHEV, in the race for PHEV Best-Seller, both should the #5 Citröen C-Zero in the near future.

Tesla is also increasing the pace, with 15 units sold last month, it was not only the second best ever month for the american brand in Italy, but also the first time that the Model S sold in two digits in two consecutive months, does this means that Tesla is now seriously looking at Italy?
