The stillborn 2nd Gen Volt is already sealing sales to the current one |
Freezing Edition
With freezing temperatures arriving to the northernmost parts of the hemisphere, the local auto markets shrink significantly, and the Canadian EV Market is one of them, with only some 300 units sold, the worst result since last February, also a cold month. Comparing last month with November '13, we can see a slight drop (304 sales in '14 vs 313 last year), so what has changed since last year?
The Chevy Volt sales have shrunken to less than half (133 vs 58), consumers seem to be already waiting for the improved 2nd Gen Volt, while in the meantime, the Nissan Leaf solved its production constraints that had been plaguing it last year (Only 30 units then) and jumped sales to a leading 103 units twelve months later, this being also the seventh consecutive sales month with 100-plus units, in the YTD chart the japanese hatch is also shining, with 1.021 sales to date, being the first time a model, other than the Volt, reaches four-digits.
One important addition to the ranking is the BMW i3, currently is only #6 YTD, but with regular appearances in the monthly Top 5's, it is helping the growth of the market and i can see it reach #4 next year.
