U.S. Car Sales By Model - January 2017
Midsize cars, such as the plunging Toyota Camry, Ford Fusion, Chevrolet Malibu, and Hyundai Sonata, saw their rankings slide compared with January 2016. The Camry, the number one car one year ago, fell to third as Toyota readies the replacement for the current car. The Fusion fell from sixth to seventh; the Malibu from ninth to twelfth, and the Sonata from eighth to thirteenth.
Only five of America's top 20 best-selling cars sold more often in January 2017 than in January 2016: the Chevrolet Cruze, Hyundai Elantra, Nissan Versa, Subaru Impreza, and Hyundai Accent. That's three of America's newer compacts, including the brand new Impreza, and two subcompacts.
