We start the busiest month of the year with the Swedish EV market, which registered 1.420 units in December, a drop of 32% over the same period last year, but we have to take in consideration that December 2015 was heavily inflated by the fiscal changes occurring in the following month.
Looking at the total year performance, sales were up 51% to 13.615 units, above what i had predicted a year ago, with the EV Share at a record 3,6%, up 1% over 2015.

Looking at the monthly models ranking, last year Best Seller, the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV ended an incredible winning streak (10 consecutive months) from the Passat GTE, winning its first (And only) Best Seller of the Month awards, with 263 units, followed by the aforementioned VW Passat GTE (150 units), Volvo XC90 PHEV and Tesla Model S, both tied in Third, with 146 units, with another Volvo, the V60 Plug-in, closing the Top 5, with 137 units.

Looking at the YTD ranking, the leader Passat GTE ended the year with a record 3.804 units, while the remaining podium seats also look attributed, but regarding the Best Selling BEV trophy, there was emotion until the end, with only one unit deciding the outcome, with as the Tesla Model S ended the year with 387 units, one more than the Nissan Leaf.
There were other changes in the ranking, with the Tesla Model X profiting from the last-quarter-of-the-month-peak to jump to #11, the VW e-Up! had a surprising performance last month, delivering 27 units, its best result in over two years, allowing it to jump to #16 and beat its e-Golf (#17) sibling, while the Audi Q7 e-Tron (26 units, new pb) climbed places once again, ending the year at #20.
The Hyundai Ioniq Electric once again scored 10 units, allowing it to end at #28.
On the EV manufacturers ranking, Volkswagen (33%, down 2%) won its first manufacturers title, with Volvo (16%) securing the runner-up status, while the 2015 & 2014 trophy bearer Mitsubishi (13%) ended in Third.

Combining December sales of regular hybrids with plug-ins, the Toyota Auris Hybrid won the Top Spot, followed by the Mitsu Outlander PHEV, with the other Toyota best seller, the Yaris Hybrid, ending in Third, followed by the surprise Kia Niro.

Below, you will find the 2016 Trophy Room:
Best Selling PHEV: VW Passat GTE, 3.804 units, 15% above the 3.297 that the 2015 Winner (Outlander PHEV) had then;
Best Selling SUV: Again the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV, this time with only 1.819 units, far behind the 3.297 units of last year;
Best Selling BEV: Once again the Tesla Model S (837 units), but below the 996 units of last year, increasing the distance to the American real competitors: The Audi A6 sold 5.580 units, the BMW 5-Series, 5.435 units and the Mercedes E-Class, 4.146;
Best Selling Small Car: The BMW i3 won, with 500 units, significantly above what the last year winner (Renault Zoe, 378 units), had then. This is the second title for the German hot hatch, having won also in 2014;
Best Selling Van: The Renault Kangoo ZE recovered the title from the Nissan e-NV200 / Evalia hands, with 171 units, but scoring a lot less units than the Nissan twins had then (299 units).
Finally, looking at the BEV / PHEV share, pure electrics lost 14% share YoY, ending 2016 with only 26%, the worst result ever.
