The i8 is making itself noticed in the sportscar arena |
"New Kid Stealing The Show" Edition
The South African EV Market is making its first steps, with only three models available, the Nissan Leaf and the BMW i offerings, but the encouraging results should call others soon.
19 units were sold last month, 13 of them being BMW i8´s, the surprising leader of this market.
If we compare this result with the Sportscar segment leaders, we can see that the german car is already making itself noticed:
The Best Selling Sportscar in SA last month was the Porsche 911 (24 units), followed by the much cheaper VW Scirocco (22 units), and in Third we have...The i8, with 13 units.
Yes, the Bimmer car-from the-future was ahead of hot cars like the Jaguar F-Type and Porsche Cayman/Boxster duo, which have sold 12 units...
Considering this i8 breakthrough and knowing that SA is a SUV-friendly market, i wonder how high would a Porsche Cayenne Plug-In or a Model X sell here...
