Outlander PHEV Rebounds Edition
The 2.412 new EV's registered last month represent an amazing 138% growth YoY, representing the fourth highest sales month in this market, behind last June (2.673 units) and the historic months of November (5.546) and December '13 (9.311).
This pulled the EV Share further North, it is now at a record 6.11%, with the market headed not only to beat the 2013 result (23.151 units), but probably to reach the 25.000 units barrier. Not bad, eh?
Looking at last month models ranking, the Outlander PHEV made its first #1 since April, thanks to the new model, posting 476 units, enabling it to reach #20 in the General Ranking and #2 in the Crossover/SUV chart, only behind the cheaper Nissan Qashqai.
But it wasn't just the Mitsu to make itself noticed in the global ranking, the Second Best Selling EV, the Mercedes C350e, registered a pb 412 units (280 of them were estates, by the way), representing 73% of all C-Classes sold and placing the plug-in Merc as the Second best-selling D-Segment/Midsize car, only behind the VW Passat. A similar feat was achieved by the Volvo V60 Plug-in, selling 300 units (Best result since January, representing 71% of all V60's sold), enabling it to also show up on the top positions of the midsize class, in Fourth, behind the Merc C-Class, VW Passat and BMW 3-Series. As a curious fact, all of these four models have, or will launch soon, a plug-in hybrid version, long were the days when the Volvo ruled this category alone...
But there were also other models impressing: Despite an average result (Only 163 units), the Tesla Model S managed to be #1 in its class, ahead of the BMW-5-Series (156 sales), with the curious fact that the 85D was the best selling version, with 53 units.
The Ford C-Max Energi represented 42% of all C-Max sales, while the e-Tron version of the Audi A3 was responsible for 44% of all sales from that model.

Looking at the YTD ranking, it was a good month for Nissan, with both models rising one position (#8 for the Leaf, #12 for the e-NV200 / Evalia twins), while the Kia Soul EV had its best result ever, with 23 units, jumping four positions to #17, while the runnout-mode Prius Plug-In
A reference to the PHEV/BEV breakdown, if Amsterdam was already known as the plug-in hybrid capital of the world, it seems that this year the trend is intensifying even further, with PHEV share growing from 77% last year to the current 84%, another proof of this is that if twelve months ago we had two pure electrics on the Top 5 (Model S and Leaf), now we have...none.
This month Hyundai registered another Fuel Cell SUV, growing the amount of FCEV's sold this year to...2.
