A bit of an Ugly Duckling among the EV community, the FFE has found some love in the Ukraine. If this model was a person, it would probably move to Odessa and spend the retirement days there... |
Nissan Leaf EV Ambassador in the Ukraine
Despite economic difficulties, EV's continue to press on in the Ukraine, thanks to the effort of several companies and associations, like emobilis, EV UA or ElectroCars. This allowed the Ukraine to leap several steps in EV-adoption ladder and be one of the leading growth markets in the world, and now they will even have their own EV-only Auto Show, the upcoming Plug In Ukraine 2016.
In the first two months of 2016 there were 125 additional EV's in this market, the Nissan Leaf represents the bulk of units (102), with the Ford Focus Electric (4 units) being a surprise in this market, both in 2016 as in total fleet level.
One of the distinguishing traits of this market is that most units are used imports, as the official automaker importers are still a bit skeptic, making this effort even more meritable, as Ukraine's current 700 all-electric vehicles fleet being comparable to more established EV markets like Finland or Czech Republic, and three-times larger than that of neighboring Poland.
Now imagine when official importers start to deliver EV's...Could this market then be nicknamed as "Norway-upon-the-Black Sea"?
